Effective August 4, 2001, some PRAXIS passing scores were adjusted following an in-depth review and analysis of all the scores of Hawaii candidates for the past three years, and with the recommendations of the Passing Score Review Panel convened by the HTSB board.
The scores were adjusted for the PPST Math and Reading and the CBT Math and Reading content areas. The social studies and English passing scores remain the same. Because of the unique challenges offered by the social studies content area test to license candidates of Hawaiian Studies, the Board will convene a work group of experts to identify whether alternative assessments for these candidates was necessary. The Hawaiian Studies work group concluded that candidates for this license should continue to take the Social Studies content tests.
The Board cautioned that candidates should not compare passing scores across different states since the passing score depends to a large degree on the performance of candidates within each state.
Adjusted Passing Scores, effective August 4, 2001:
| PPST Math | 173 |
| PPST Reading | 172 |
| CBT Math | 318 |
| CBT Reading | 319 |
