Adding a Field to an Existing License
With the approval of the HTSB’s amendments to its administrative rules, teachers may now add fields to their existing license. Many of you have been waiting to do this so that you can qualify to vie for more vacancies or to have another way of meeting the NCLB “highly qualified” requirement.
For this reason, the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board has decided to allow anyone who applies for and meets the add-a-field requirements by December 31, 2004, to have the new field take effect retroactive to August 13, 2004, the official date when the new rules went into effect. There will be no exceptions so if you already meet the requirements of one of the 3 available options, you should submit your application and necessary documentation to HTSB by the December 31, 2004 deadline. Processing fees will apply to applications received after July 1, 2005.
Be sure to read the instructions carefully before submitting your application. Incomplete applications will not be processed and may prevent you from meeting the deadline.
Please Be Sure to Download and Read the Instructions Before Completing the Application.
