NEWS

After our online licensing system goes live, all teachers must go online to create their user account and link their accounts to their license. This system will be used to collect payment of licensing fees, manage your Professional Growth Plan and submit forms to HTSB staff. Once the login function is activated on our website, HTSB will give teachers a 90-day period in which to create their account and select the method by which they will pay their license fees or fee to practice.  Please remember that one of the requirements for keeping your license valid is to keep your fee payment current.

Watch for an announcement in this News Headlines section of our website. For teachers who have valid email addresses on file with HTSB, we will send you an email notice telling you when the account feature is available so you can go online to create your account.

As described in the August 2009 newsletter, teachers will no longer have their license or permit fees deducted through payroll once the new payment method begins.  In the interest of acquiring more timely and accurate information about teachers' fee payments and their association to ensuring the validity of a license or permit, the Board is requiring teachers to pay their fees via credit card or eCheck.

Submitting your credit card or eCheck payment authorization is similar to making any other payment on the internet.  Be assured that careful precautions have been taken to keep your information secure.  You will be comforted to know that the company administering this process also administers the State of Hawaii's Tax Department income tax collections and the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs' trade and professional license payments.

When the online fee payment function is activated, you will be authorizing your license fee payment and choosing the payment option you wish to use.  The Members of the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board are being responsive and sensitive to the current economic uncertainty facing teachers by paying all transaction or convenience fees for 12 months for teachers who submit their authorization by credit card and eCheck within 90 days after HTSB activation of the login function.  For this reason, teachers are urged to go online to select the payment method and option (credit card vs. eCheck, lump sum vs. installments) as soon as you are asked to do so.  Teachers who do not register within 90 days after HTSB activation of the login function, will be responsible for paying their own convenience or transaction fee(s) for all transactions.
